Requirement Statement
This Disaster Recovery (DR) policy focuses on College IT infrastructure.
Indiana University requires adequate protections to be established to insure the continuity and recovery of university business following the loss of systems that are critical to the operations of the school. This requirement insures that College IT provides acceptable technology recovery strategies for restoring College IT hardware, applications and data in the event of a disaster that disrupts the IT infrastructure.
College IT will maintain a proactive IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) to serve as a basic guide for response and recovery of systems critical to the operations of the College. In addition, each year, the College IT group will update the IT section of the College IT Business Continuity Plan (BCP) which is kept in the IU Ready system.
The College will update and test DRP and BCP plans annually. Plans outline critical IT systems and services, their recovery priority, procedures for recovering disrupted systems and to minimize impact to operations.

Procedures
- Each year, the IT Leader for College IT Research, Infrastructure, and Support (CITRIS) will assemble members of the College IT teams to review the current Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and discuss the need for revisions/updates to the IT recovery strategies of critical systems and services.
- Changes in the IT environment can and do occur as a result of the active and evolving College technical research and teaching missions which reveal the need for annual reviews and updates.
- Tabletop exercises are conducted with the entire College IT team with mock-disasters designed to test the plan and reveal opportunities for improvement.
- Occasional joint exercises with UITS are conducted when the opportunity arises. The goal is to gain a better understanding of UITS DR processes and adjust alignment of College IT DRP with UITS if necessary.
- This DR policy will also be reviewed annually and revised as needed.
